I am starting this forum so we can share things from our different toolkits. I once sat in during a 12-step program for alcoholics (I was there for my own 12-step, but had arrived an hour early from grossly miscalculating the traffic I would be facing) and even though I wasn't an alcoholic, a lot of what was shared applied to my situation, too. So I think no matter our personal challenges, the various things in our toolkit can be potentially useful to each other, even if the exact details of what we face are markedly different. Please observe a few rules of cyber-etiquette: 1) No hate messages whatsoever, which includes insults, racist comments, derogatory statements, etc. I think we can avoid this and still have open discussions about things that have been helpful. 2) Please do not judge anyone for their comments - if it's hateful at all, I'll delete it, but this forum is generally meant to be a safe place (as much as such a thing can be created when it's open to the public on the wilderness that is the Internet) and I imagine some things people will bring up are difficult to talk about to begin with. So if someone shares something that helped them, please don't say it's ridiculous or something even if you think it is. It might well be considered that from the outside - I had a few things I used that, when I said it out loud, people were giving me the side-eye or said I must be crazy. Which, perhaps, they were, but it also worked in that time. We have a lot of things we tend to throw at long-term problems until we find the bits that can work reliably. Unless it is going to hurt someone (or potentially hurt themselves, which is a gray area, but I'll do my best to be objective), let's leave it open. 3) If you are going to share anything that may be triggering, please put *trigger warning* in the subject line. I know this can be hard to gauge, so if anything slips through, that's okay, too. Here is something that may be a helpful guide: https://www.oxfordsu.org/resourcehub/guidetotriggerwarnings/. Please otherwise maintain a spirit of compassion, respect and kindness. I hope this can be helpful!
